One Timeless Moment
Borealis Records
2002
James Gordon followed his epic double CD "Mining For Gold: Twenty Years of Songwriting" by musically re-inventing himself on "One Timeless Moment." Working with a full band this time out, and recording "live off the floor," the CD features Producer Scott Merritt on electric guitar, Sandy Horne on bass and vocals, Peter Von Althen on drums, and Evan Gordon on organ. From the country/rock feel of "Dan Macphee" to the haunting "Michipicoten"; from the smoky jazz cabaret quality of "A Really Lousy Late Winter Day," to the political "Another Big Box Store," James Gordon has once again delivered another stellar album of original songs.
Musicians: James Gordon, Sandy Horne, Scott Merritt, Peter Von Althen, Dennis Rondeau, Evan Gordon, Marion Linton, Katherine Thompson.

Song List
Dan McPhee — lyrics
Farmers in Southern Ontario face an ever-growing problem. As the protagonist of this song states:
"I can't make a living on this farm anymore, but I could make a killing if I quit"---the land is worth far more as a site for condo or retail development than it ever could be as a farm.
The Old Troubador
When James was the artistic director of a Canadian songwriter's festival, he once had to rescue a well-known songwriter from an onstage meltdown.
Michipicoten — mp3
Written after a long drive from Minnesota across Northern Ontario, this song was designed as an "audio painting" describing the beauty of the Lake Superior Shore.
Virginia's Day
James produced a film about mental illness called "Breaking the Mask" — and one of the young participants described to him the typical day of someone with Schizo-effective disorder. Her courage and her commitment to getting well inspired this song.
Another Big Box Store — lyrics
About the changes that come to a small town when the outskirts become ringed with big box retail stores.
Unspoken
A rare Gordon love song--about how love can take on its own personality.
Rapunzel
Using the classic fairy tale as a metaphor for 'locking ones self away' from the world.
Sing With Me
A song about dealing with a great loss.
Funny Old World
A song about the ironies of life.
A Really Lousy Late Winter Day
"March came in like a cockroach, and it hung around for weeks."
Sunset Song
Woah! Another love song, this one with a sentimental quality.
It's Not Summer Anymore
A song about getting back to reality after an idyllic summer.
How Many Mistakes?
A song about losing faith.
