Another Silver Maple Comes Down

from Nine Green Bottles on Borealis Records
Old enough to have ridden My CCM down hidden
Paths through meadows All greens and yellows
Across Stone Road When it was still made of stone
Years before that mall Came and swallowed it all
Along the riverside, Don't it make you want to cry,
Another golden idol goes up, Another Silver Maple comes down
I used to lay my head down
Where the roots tangled around
Beneath those trees
when the leaves would catch the breeze
that blew through this pretty
Royal City
When it was still small
And not lost in the sprawl
Along the riverside,
Don't it make you want to cry,
Another golden idol goes up,
Another Silver Maple comes down
An endless stream of cars flows to an ashphalt ocean
By a forest of stores, who will ever notice
When the last maples fall
Along the riverside,
Don't it make you want to cry,
Another golden idol goes up,
Another Silver Maple comes down
